History in Sport
Jasper came out of the womb running and hasn’t looked back. As a kid his passion for sport centered around the downhill slopes in Kimberley BC then led him to the National Ski Academy in Collingwood ON for high school. Academy life consisted of early morning dryland sessions followed by a half day on the hill and classes in the afternoon. Dryland training after school then dinner and evening helped streamline Jaspers’ strong work ethic for what has turned into a lifetime in sport.

In 1992, realizing that he was not going to excel to the level he had dreamed of in skiing, Jasper packed his bags and moved to Toronto to pursue his second love, Tennis. Long commutes long hours on the court landed Jasper a full tennis scholarship to the University of Wisconsin, an NCAA division 1 school.

Sometimes it takes a number of years and several sporting setbacks to steer a person in the right direction. Perhaps it was a combination of genetics, pure stubbornness, and the belief that he was willing to suffer more than anyone else to win that landed Jasper in the world of endurance sports.

For the past ten years Jasper has raced across the globe in Ironman and triathlon events. To this point his career has been highlighted by four Ironman top five finishes and a top ten at the 2005 World Long Course Championships. Although sport has also delivered its fair share of setbacks Jasper’s dedication and commitment to the sporting journey and to achieving his personal best remains consistent.

Motivational Speaking

Jasper speaks to the importance of being process focused and has developed a model for setting up a successful process. During his presentation he takes the audience through the trials and tribulations of Ironman racing and life as a professional athlete, touching on everything from success to setbacks and of course the humorous side of sport. Jasper’s goal with his talks is for people to draw parallels to their own lives and careers and be inspired and motivated to achieve their personal best.

Jasper recently delivered this hour long powerpoint presentation to a group of over 600 people at a tradeshow for the financial services industry to great success. The presentation itself can be tailored to any audience and adjusted to suit any time frame.

Sport Group Presentations/Guest Appearances
Jasper is always happy to share his experience and has been a regular guest speaker for running groups, triathlon groups, and swim camps for athletes of all levels. Topics range from race nutrition to equipment to training methods and there is always lots of time for question and answer sessions.

School Visits
Being an overgrown kid himself, Jasper makes an effort to do as much as he can with kids and school groups. Jasper is never happier than when he is in a room full of energetic, enthusiastic kids. This was the inspiration for Jasper to launch a program to get athletes into schools and get kids into athletes. Check it out in the community section under "adopt an athlete".
